Always @Elway68

Hello everyone, this is Rico aka PhantomRicon here interviewing our fellow gamer, the young and very big (muscle wise) man, Elway68!

Elway68: What’s going everyone? Hope y’all are having a good day. I’m Germayn Torres some of you will know me as Eltacoma from the Unsung Gamers podcast

You can follow me on my Instagram @el_way68. Can also add me on Xbox at Stewymean523253 or even on twitch at stewymean. And if I can ever get my hands on PS5 my tag is el_way68.

PhantomRicon: Awesome and welcome! Let’s get started. Your gametag name. How did you come up with that name?

Elway68: I have a few gamer tags. My gamer I try to stick with for everything from COD to fortnite and other games is El_way68. I came up with the name while setting up my ps3. I had that’s 70 show going in the back. It was the episode where Kelso was talking about the El Camino. And tells Jackie it’s an El Camino that’s Spanish for the Camino. That’s when I thought I can make something from this.

PhantomRicon: Awesome story on how you got your Game tag name. For my next question, what game are you currently playing?

Elway68: I’m currently playing neon abyss and my name is mayo. And thinking about replaying stray to finish collecting all the trophies.

PhantomRicon: Oh nice! Heard a lot of good things about Stray. What video game character (from any game) would you want to be?

Elway68: Oh man, this one is a tough one. There’s a lot of games I’d like to be a part of.
But off the top of my head, I would have to go with Mario or Luigi. Just because I’d love to explore the mushroom kingdom.

PhantomRicon: Classic. Can’t go wrong with that. What is a popular game everyone loves but you dislike?

Elway68: I can’t think of a game I dislike. But I will say I am not a fan of scary creepy type games. Fear is an emotion I don’t pay for. I’ll give them a try, but if it gets to crazy “Germayn out  🎤 “

PhantomRicon: Gotta give the scary games a try again. What got you into playing video games?

Elway68: What got me into gaming was hanging out with friends. Like when I would go see my grandma in Mexico. I would go with some friends to the local arcade and play. And here spending hours or the night at friends houses. And staying up late playing games like Mario racing, Mario party or 007. It was always a good fun time.

PhantomRicon: Sounds like a fun time, and finally what about plans for the future? Games to play? Or future of your gaming/social media page? Etc

Elway68: Future plans are trying to upgrade my current gaming setup from laptop to an actual PC. So I could possibly start streaming or doing collaboration streaming with some of the Unsung Gamers. Not sure about my social media pages yet. Will probably just post random things on it.

PhantomRicon: Awesome and thank you again Germayn for your time and doing this interview. Greatly enjoyed your time and we’ll definitely be seeing you online. Finally thank you to everyone who joined in and read this interview. Greatly appreciate it! If you’d like to join or get interviewed please let us know in our contact page. Thanks again and Cheers!

Chainsaw Man

Welp I’m an idiot. This whole time I’m thinking season 2 is gonna be released and I need to catch up. Nope! Season 1 just released lol. But either way I was excited to see this popular Manga turned anime. I’ve heard so much about this I got a Crunchyroll account just so I can watch it.

To give a quick summary: Chainsaw Man follows the story of Denji, an impoverished young man who after making a contract with a dog-like devil named Pochita. That’s the first episode I won’t give more to avoid spoilers for those who are like me and ever read the manga but want to see what the talk is about.

I did watch the sub version and plan to watch the dub as well and wow. I was not disappointed. My concern was I would not see much in the first episode knowing these episodes are usually 20-30 minutes long. This first episode was great and was beyond what I expected. Pleasantly surprised at how much they were able to fit and still make all cohesive. I never read the manga but this first episode really helped me follow what’s happening in the world of Chainsaw man. The art is beautiful, the story is fantastic, and this episode will not disappoint.

Beautiful Superb Cyberpunk Anime

I would have never watched this if it wasn’t for my cousin who recommended it to me when it came out. I finally finished it and wow. A beautiful anime filled with excellent characters, visuals, and story. I recognized some voice actors off hand, the one Zach Aguilar (Tanjiro of Demon Slayer, Genos of One Punch Man), and the voice of Giancarlo Esposito (Gus, Breaking Bad, Moff Gidien). It was strange at first hearing the voice of Tanjiro curse like a sailor on the show (show rated M), but the voice fit the character.

A quick summary of the show per good ole Wikipedia: In a dystopia overrun by corruption, crime, and cybernetic implants, an impulsive but talented street kid named David Martinez, after losing everything he has in a drive-by shooting, makes the choice to survive on the wrong side of the law as an edgerunner; a high-tech, black-market mercenary also known as a “cyberpunk”.

Each episode is only about 30 mins but each episode is worth a watch. Getting to know David and the rest of the edgerunners was filling. The animation was beautiful and something I feel like as far as story the video game tries to do. But didn’t get right, at least from what I’ve heard from others who played the game.

I understand when the video game came out it had its issues but since the release of the anime on Netflix there was a rise of users playing Cyberpunk again. One could even say helped revive a dying video game. Now with news of a sequel video game coming one I can’t help but think the anime played a big part.

I too admit now I want to play the game and funny thing is I do have the game just never played it and now I truly want to explore this video game universe. I highly recommend this anime for those who are looking for a good quick short story and maybe if you, like myself, haven’t played the game, might make you want to grab the game as well. So far it’s only one season and I do hope they create a sequel or another story in this beautiful world of, Cyberpunk Edgerunners Anime.

Onimusha 2001 Remake

After 20+ years since the last time I played this game I came across a great deal on the PlayStation Store. Right now up until Oct 13th for the price of $7.99 you can own this digital copy of this classic game.

A series of video games developed and published by Capcom. It makes use of the historic figures that shaped Japans history, retelling their stories with supernatural elements. This first of the series follows Samanosuke as he joins a shinobi Kaede to save his cousin from demons of the underworld.

This game is short in comparison to current games. I beat this game in under 4 hours but when I looked it up it could take up to 11 hours to get a 100% completion. Yet when I played this game the last time, I believe I was 15-16 and it felt a lot longer. A cousin of mine mentioned how when we were young time was never a concern. I guess now it makes sense as an adult I plan things out for my day or week to be sure I have time to do things. That’s adulthood for ya.

Still I enjoyed playing his game. It had a lot of the old Capcom feel of games like the original Resident Evil 2 or Dino Crisis mechanics. The graphics I’m sure at the time were amazing and in my opinion we’re still pretty good. I enjoyed the simple slashing to kill demons and absorb the souls to level up. I’m sure I could’ve beaten the game in one sitting but I really enjoyed exploring and reminiscing about the game. Plus I am a huge fan of Japanese culture and the samurai style of fighting.

Overall it’s not a perfect game but still an enjoyable game to play. If ya can’t find something to play I suggest giving this game a try. Plus $8 is not bad. I hope they remake the rest of the series or just completely redo and remake the series for the next gen consoles. Until then I’ll have to buy the old PS games to play on the older consoles. Of course when I can find time again.
